Install the Tool Into the Distributor Hole
The tool must fully seat so it seals the oil galleries and allows pressure to build.

Insert the priming tool straight down into the distributor bore.

Confirm the tang engages the pump driveshaft.

Keep the tool centered so it does not wobble during drilling.
Attach a Strong Drill Motor
A 1/2-inch drill is preferred for heavier oils and proper pump speed.

Chuck the top of the priming tool into the drill.

Set drill direction to match distributor rotation - clockwise
Spin the Oil Pump to Build Pressure
CriticalYou must achieve full oil pressure before first fire to avoid dry bearings.

Run the drill at moderate speed for 20–30 seconds.

Watch for oil pressure on a gauge or verify flow at the sending‑unit port.

If no gauge is available, remove the sender and confirm oil reaches the port
Rotate the Crankshaft Slowly
Turning the crank exposes different oil passages and lifters to pressurized oil.

Use a breaker bar on the crank bolt.

Rotate the engine 1/4 turn at a time while continuing to prime.

Continue until oil reaches rocker arms on engines with full‑gallery priming tools.
